Clash of the Titans… The Aftermath

Well, the green has settled, the woods have stopped rolling, and the verdict is in…
Aaron has retained his crown.
But don’t let the final result fool you — this was no repeat of last year’s comfortable 11–3 victory. Oh no. This time, we had a contest on our hands.
From the very first end, it was clear that James had not spent the past year simply talking a good game. The gym sessions, the cycling, the new and improved lifestyle — it all showed. He was sharper, more composed, and far more at home on the green. He’d even bought his own woods!
And for a while… it looked like the comeback might just be on.

James rallied brilliantly, closing the gap and piling the pressure on the reigning champion. The crowd around the green sensed it too, a shift in momentum, a flicker of doubt, a whisper of “could this be it?”
But champions find a way.
Aaron, cool as ever and no doubt aided by his now fully operational wind-detecting hairstyle, dug deep when it mattered most. With a few clutch bowls (and possibly a couple he’ll claim were exactly as intended), he edged back ahead and ultimately got over the line to secure the win — 11-6.
Title defended. Legacy intact. Bragging rights extended for another year.
James, however, walks away with his head held high. And perhaps more importantly, with the knowledge that the gap has well and truly closed. If this year proved anything, it’s that the rivalry is very much alive… and next year could be the year.
A Win for More Than Just Pride
In true festival spirit, the generosity around the green was just as impressive as the bowling itself.
A fantastic £170 was raised during the pre-match whip-round. A brilliant effort from everyone who got involved.
In a show of sportsmanship that sums up the event perfectly, Aaron and James agreed to split the total between two causes close to their hearts:
£100 will be donated to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, in memory of James’s mother-in-law, Barbara
£70 will go to the Captain Paul Watson Foundation, supporting vital work in ocean conservation, a cause close to Aaron
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, proof that while there may be rivalry on the green, the real wins go far beyond it.

So, as the dust settles on this year’s Clash of the Titans, one thing is certain…
This story isn’t over.
Same time next year, boys?
